Abstract
This talk presents a formal derivation of the Euler–Vlasov model for thick sprays, starting from the coupled Enskog–Boltzmann kinetic system for gas–particle mixtures. In the thick spray regime, where particle volume fractions are no longer negligible, finite-size effects influence both the gas pressure and the drag acting on particles. The main contributions are: (i) a mesoscopic explanation of how finite-volume effects modify the pressure term, and (ii) a corrected friction law incorporating higher-order effects. This talk is based on the preprint arXiv:2509.05118.
